i find while diging it definately gets harder the deeper i go, but if you enjoy using your tools, you don;t mind digging all day long ;)

If you have a lot of clay in your soil then yes I think it does, watch your back or your going to be very stiff in the morning.

No, we have a heavy clay soil that sets like concrete on the surface - but can be quite moist deep down... is yours moist deep down?
