Just when I think otherwise, some thing reminds me that at least one person in this world cares about me, and then I feel guilty for thinking otherwise. I feel selfish, and that wouldn't make that person happy if I had forgotten that they have love for me.

I press on because I have good friends & a wonderful family.
I could not put people through the hurt of seeing me destroy my life...and what might have been. And, what if something good for me was about to happen? If I ended my life I wouldn't be able to experience it. Seriously, we all have difficult times. It's not only you. Try and be strong. Get some medication if you need it. Taking medication for depression is a much better trade off then ending your life. Or find some group therapy. It helps. Try this; visualize yourself way, way up, away from the earth. But not so far that you can't make out the people down here. Notice that they are all (I mean ALL) going through their lives with good times and bad times. They are shoulder to shoulder with all the same emotions that you, yourself have experienced. We're all in it together. You're in an awful place (state of mind) right now. Be strong...make it better. I wish you well.

You have answered yourself here -- and you have done this well... Here is your prime answer:

"cause what if my old friends come back? i better be there for them if they do!"

If for nothing else, this what you say above is a sterling reason that you must go on, aside from all the maxims, aphorisms and platitudes anyone could entreat you to understand.

You endure what you endure so that the next poor bastard doesn't have to undergo expending the same time and energy that you underwent. For indeed, he or she may need their respective time and energy to learn even more diverse and important lessons.

This difference is what prompts the world to advance or regress.

Albert Einstein stepped away from the works of physics so that he could write down all his findings. His idea was to save his younger colleagues from having to waste their time in darkness needlessly. He allowed them an 'AP' and heads up so that they did not have to spend years looping...

Point is, there is nothing that one man or woman can undergo that has not already been undergone by others millions of times before, millions of years ago.

Why waste time studying the old, worn-out lessons. Show your learnings to others so that they can bypass all the consternations. Allow them to go " AP " in that given class -- by enlightening them, which may guide them well through it first hand...

Your mission is to draw strength from your center, from within, and not from the outside world, which is absolutely nothing you should dare depend on or look forward to.

Now I say: Welcome to the world of your lower nature, which to behold requires the skill of a warrior.

When you awaken, just get up and move out and into the day-to-day world. Just pick or have some idea, then move on it -- therewith LIFE will step in and fill-in the gaps.

For who today ' truly ' knows what he or she is doing? I mean -- really knows?

We only 'believe' that we know, and there is that agreement with the majority -- the herd -- of those numerous others who 'believe' that they know. Baloney, all of it !

These tend to outnumber those who know that they do not know... See? Now, this is the ego complex kicking in. And the world is filthy rich with egoism...whose idea is to make you feel crappy and undignified and of no consequence to the world...

The ones who know that they do not know and proceed to know better, are the very souls who are often without material gain or evidence.

The egotists have deluded themselves because they believe that they have the vote of the majority heart and voice... Well, they do of course, no matter that this majority is off side 100%, 100% of the time.

Experiences. Life is all about learning and bettering yourself. You keep on cause you'll never have enough time to figure what life is really all about. Trying to figure that out is what creates the drive. I'm always one who wants to learn and experience different things in life.
I also live by " Life is what YOU make it". Now I understand that the odds can be against everyone, but this doesn't mean its all bad. For instance: people in third world countries don't complain about their cable going out cause they don't have it. You really can make life as enjoyable as you want it to be. There is really never a good enough excuse to just stop living.
Stick with it man. You really can rise above it all if you try hard enough.

the fact that I can make new friends and money, the fact that money does not buy happiness and that there is someone out there right now that loves me and cares deeply for me. The fact that you are alive and have all your limbs and havent had a child die on you or been in a terrible car wreck, have a roof over your head, and a full stomach. the fact that life is what you make it and it can only get better or maybe that you have the ability to feel , or maybe that God created you just the way he wanted you.

I stop thinking depressing thoughts.

1 Make new friends.
2 Earn more money, or learn the accept limits
3 Recognize relationships come and go
4 Recognize that money is not the end all and be all of living
5 Be grateful for what you do have
6 Recognize how truly worse your situation could be

Self-pity is a terrible state of existence.

Thats a very good question that puts everything in perspective for me b.c I have the same issues. What makes me keep living is having goals & trying to accomplish them.

I would like to travel the world or whatever so I could get a good look at other ppl's situations & see if they're in a worse lifesyle than me. Hasn't happened yet, but I know that my best theraputic remedy for me.

It depends. When one is depressed, nothing he could think about will motivate him to go on living. I have been depressed before and was on the brink of committing suicide. Obviously that didn't happen. I got over it.

Now, when I feel like I can't go on living, in the mental state that I'm in now, which is 'not depressed', I just tell myself 'this too shall pass' and that nothing is this world is new, every experience we're having has happened to someone else before.

I change my focus. Like attracts like. When you focus on what you don't want, that is what you attract. I visualize what I want and act as if it were already accomplished. It works. Might not be in the next 15 minutes, but change will occur. Be thankful for what you do have. The universe will answer you. There is more than enough to go around. Blessings on you

Making art. You can do it with found things in the streets if you have no money. Art and the love of the natural world and being inquisitive has always saved me from myself.
