I hate when people say that we won't be a good team just because the Red Sox and Yankees are in the same division.
Yes we are a little bit shaky now. But considering we lost BJ Ryan, Reed Johnson, Troy Glaus, Gustavo Chacín, Gregg Zaun. We still maneged to achive a winning record in april.

It's because ESPN overlooks the Blue Jays. During a quite sportscenter update, they'll give you the NBA and NHL playoff results, major sports news, and then how the Yankees and Red Sox did today. Before the season started, I thought Toronto would be better than the Yankees, but expected Steinbrenner to acquire 1-2 superstars at the trade deadline to make a playoff push. With their current injuries(referring to the Blue Jays here), they're doing ok, but the Red Sox are very strong this year and it'll be tough getting that wild card this year.

You pretty much answered your own question. They are in the same division as the Sox and Yankees. Unless they for some reason get into a different division they will always be behind those two teams no matter how good they are. They are also hurt by the fact that they play in Canada in a city that doesn't have as avid of fans as some other teams. They will always play second fiddle and should learn to relish the fact that they are continually overlooked.

Thats the biggest reason, being in the same division as the hottest rivalry in maybe all of sports history. Plus the Devil Rays are a very good young team thats up and coming. And being in canada dont help any. Noone gives a crap about canada. The NBA and MLB should bring the teams that are in canada back to the States and let canada keep their weak as s hockey. So location, being in the AL East and north or the border are whats really killing the Jays.

People overlook them because they are in such a hard division and don't seem like contenders against the yankees and red sox. They are a good team, but will be overlooked until they prove that they are playoff contenders.

Same reason you and other people gave, the division they're in is mostly dominated by high-budget teams Red Sox and Yankees.

No one really overlooks them...They have a tough division and they do a fairly good job with one of the lowest caps in Baseball.
