44 = 2X2X11
56 = 7X2X2X2

one 11

2X2X2X5X7X11 = 3080

10= 5*2
44=2*2*11
56=2*2*2*7

So the smallest common factor is 2. If you are looking for the GCF, multiply 2*2*11*5*2*7 = 4*11*10*7 = 44*70 = 3080

Multiply all three together. Then divide the resultant by two and check that its still a multiple of each of the numbers (by dividing the resultant by each number. If you get a whole number, its a multiple) keep doing this until the test fails.
