cultural manipulation and money. In the seventies lush female pubic hair was a considered a big turn-on. If you doubt that, check out some vintage porn or Playboys.
Right now people are getting rich off of making a sort of none-too-subtle latent male pedophilia the norm and not a perversion. After they have milked that for all it is worth, they'll probably have women soaking their drawers in minoxodil and have magazines with names like Mufforama and Ape Crack.
Women are just fine the way they were made. But there's no money in convincing them of that. Simple as that.

I don't know exactly what the truth is for the whole of the UK, but the impression I'm left with is that porn has gone mainstream with youth, and this drives an image expectation of what people should look like when naked.
I'll be a little naughty and share a few shower room observations: most guys who are 30+ wear their pubic hair wild & free, as nature intended. A majority of guys under 30 have tightly trimmed pubic hair, or none at all.
I'd like to map the same general rules onto girls, although obviously I can't back this up with evidence, for reasons of privacy - i.e I'd get arrested as a perv if I hung around changing rooms.
Porn started it, fashion continues the trend, everyone's making money from hair removal and waxing, no reason to stop brainwashing the youth into believing that body hair is somehow unwanted and dirty.
I'm with Kevin Sorbo on this. When asked if he was going to wax for the role of Hercules, he simply replied - do you want a man or a boy for the role?

I find a totally shaved pubic area in a woman unattractive unless she has replaced her pubic hair with a tattoo. My brain wants something there. I don't think its as widespread as it seems to be from porn. Most of the women I have been with have had some degree of pubic hair, as do most of my friends, although perhaps that is colored by the fact that I hang out with mostly queers.
I don't shave (anything) and neither does my partner. We like other women, not men.

Aiming? Which - the ones who went natural, or the ones who think they need to look like a plucked chicken?
Personally, I think the bald deal is more than just a bit creepy. And makes me wonder a bit about the guys who insist upon it.
No harm in trimming up, but the hair is there to serve a functional purpose on both men and women. It's not just decoration. For women, it cuts down on the number of infections and foreign objects that can get in there. For men, it is meant to help keep everythingwarm enough to keep the sperm viable - that whole breeding thing.

Younger women following trends... and the trend is to be bare. I honestly don't know the % of women who actually do the deed but it's mostly a western thing. If you go to places like Asia, they still have big bushes. They think its strange that people would remove their pubic hair as do I.
It's there so what who cares... if you get some stuck in your teeth. Be grateful you're close enough to get that far.
Nuff' said.

Well, I'm all natural downstairs, because shaving makes my skin irritated, and I think it looks gross. I can't figure out why so many men think it is attractive to be, as you said "hairless as a prepubescent girl." What's so hot about a crotch that looks like it belongs to a 12 year old?
I like men who are smart, funny, creative, honest, respectful, have a healthy view of sexuality, and with mostly the same values as me.

Uhm I am all hairless, and always was. I swam growing up and never let any hair grow down there bc it would get caught in the lycra swimsuit and hurt. I don't think I would let it grow anyways though because bacteria clings to hair, it seems gross to me.

It's a personal choice ... but I don't think a majority of women shave their pubic hair -- unless your judging by Internet porn.

If men find hairless so attractive why are they not shaving it off themselves. I think that the hairless craze is creepy and reminiscent of men who prefer children as opposed to full grown women. I believe that we look exactly the way we are supposed to and God made each of us in her image. If men don't like it they can stay off the grass.

No problem, if American women want to shave so what. I think that the hair of European women is a turn on to me.
