Do not feel guilty, we all need a treat sometimes. I would not drink soda everyday, but I would say that a can of soda a couple times a week is definitely ok. ((If its caffeine that you are worried about, a limited amount during pregnancy is safe. A pregnant woman can safely have two 8 oz cups of coffee per day according to many studies that I have read about. My advice would be don't drink 2 cups of coffee or two cans of soda EVERY day...but that is the limit.))

It's not really bad to drink soda while ur pregnant. The reason why they may say that is because of the caffine level in many of the sodas, like coke, dr. pepper, and pepsi. There was actually a study done showing that, 10 cans of soda does not harm the baby.

dont feel guilty.. its not so much the soda its the caffeine.
i lived on sprite when i was pregnant. they want you to limit the caffeine you intake having 16 oz a day is what i was told was ok. so if needed i would have a cup of coffee in the morning and a coke for lunch but for the rest of the day i would drink water or sprite..

Why do you feel guilty? Is it the caffeine? Doctors have changed their recommendation on that and its no longer on the "never" list. You can have up to a couple servings per day and still be fine.

Just remember that soda doesn't replace your water intake for the day, so be sure to drink lots of water too to stay hydrated.

I am also 5mnths pregnant, and earlier in my pregnancy I found myself drinking A LOT of soda. My nutritionist says it is definitely not bad, but it's also not good for you. It will not harm the baby, just the soda will give you extra fat you dont need. Soda settles my stomach :)

As long as it's limited, then it's fine. A soda here and there is not a problem. As long as you're not not drinking more than 2 caffeinated drinks a day, which you aren't, then the baby will be fine.

Drink caffeine free and stay away from the diet soda. Fake sugar hasn't been tested enough to make a positive statement that it has no effects on a growing fetus.

I think one can of soda is 12 oz. According to the American Pregnancy Society, pregnant women are allowed to have 3- 8 oz of caffine a day - either soda or coffee. I think if you have it on occassion it wont harm or hurt your baby, but if you have it more frequent than recommended, then there is reason to be concerned. Otherwise, enjoy and congrats!

I wouldn't worry about drinking a soda or two, but definitely don t over do if they are diet and don't let it replace more nutritional juices and water. You should avoid products w/ aspartame, (sp?) but splenda is OK. My doctor said no more than 200 to 300 milligrams of caffeine a day. (about 2 cups of coffee.) good luck!
