It might be easier for you to remember the meaning if you know the roots of the words.
pro- : from the Greek meaning "before"
eu- : from the Greek meaning "good" or "well"
karyo- : from the Greek meaning "nut" or "kernel"
From an evolutionary standpoint, organisms without a nucleus came before organisms with a nuclues. Think of the nucleus as the "nut" or "kernel" of the cell.

I agree that going by the word parts pro, eu, and karyo is the best way because that can help you understand other words with these same parts.
Bacteria came about before there was a nucleus.
Eukaryotes have a true nucleus.
However, my students remember that prokaryotes include bacteria and eukaryotes are everything else because ....
if you flip the P of prokaryotes upside-down it's a b for bacteria.

I use the Pro meaning "before"....so its before the nulceus...which means by proxy eukaryotes are those with a nucleus.
I guess I also think of prokaryotes as being the beginnings of life on earth too in the that PRokaryotes are PRimative and that they don't have as many organelles as all other cell tyoes (eukaryotes) and therefore are missing things like the nuclues.

Pro means before like Prosimians or primates more primitive than monkeys. Prokaryotes are bacteria.
EU is people in Europe so eukaryotes are what we are what we are.

Pro means before, and since these were the types of organism early on in evolution (before prokaryotes) they are called prokaryotes (i.e. before the nucleus as they have no nucleus)

Prokaryotic- no nucleus
Eukaryotic- nucleus
As simple as that. Just remember the words, you don't really need a mnemonic device or something to remember that

Umm, lets put it this way. Eukaryotic is pronounced like "You". You have cells with organells. Prokaryotic cells don't have any organelles.

The prefix "pro" means "before" (at least, according to my bio professor), and "karyote" means "nucleus". Essentially, "before the nucleus". Another thing is, think of the way it sounds: "Eu" sounds like "you". YOU are an organism whose cells have a nucleus!

Well I don't know if this will help you but "karyo" in greek means cell. "Pro" means before and "eu" means well.
So, pro-karyotic indicates that the cell is not yet perfectly formed since it lacks the nucleus.
On the other hand, eu-karyotic is a well and fully formed cell.
