After having sex how long does it take for the sperm to completely come out of the woman? The reason I ask is because I'm 36 weeks pregnant and my husband and I had sex not last night but the night before, anyway, I'm having some really thick sticky discharge coming out of me still and I was wondering if it could still be the sperm or something else. It looks like an egg white and like I said it's really thick and sticky. I had it coming out all day yesturday and still today. Could it still be sperm or something to worry about?

Hello i am the mother of two very young boys. I cant really answere the how long part. I had the same thing happen to me and it really scared me, but you are pretty far along so it is probably just your cervix thinning out. Once you get so far along your body just starts preparing for delivery. And discharge is one of those things that happen. If you are too concerned about it ask your doc, but you shouldnt be too worried about it, as longs as there isnt any blood in it. Sex will cause you to bleed the further along you get. My husband and i were having sex just a couple of days before i delivered my first son, and i had spotting and discharge, but my doc said it was just because of the intercourse. I hop that helps. But dont be to worried cause the last thing you need is STRESS!

Either way, do not be worried. White discharge coming from you is normal, especially toward the end of pregnancy. Even a little tinge of blood is normal. I would say that there is still a chance of sperm being inside of you. Especially if there was quite a bit of semen to begin with, but you probably have no way of knowing how much there was until it all came out.
If you get a constant trickle of water that you cannot control, have frothy looking discharge no matter what color, or you start to bleed like when you have your period, then be worried and see the doctor. Otherwise, all is well!

Hi :O)

You can discharge the "residue" for up to 72 hours after intercourse.

It sounds like you are losing your mucus plug--which acts like a cork in the cervix, and it protects infections from getting into the uterus--which is not unusual for 36 weeks. But don't get too excited--yet! -- it can take another 2-4 weeks before you go into labor.

Ask your doctor at your next appointment about the discharge. Don't be worried unless there is pain, blood, or a very heavy amount present.

Good luck!

it can't be sperm its not like that. i had that happen to me the other day during my period but it was egg white like just as you said. and i haven't sex in a week. i don't know what it is, i'm sure its normal, i don't have any kind of infection, i think its just some extra kinda discharge that sloughed off from inside somewhere. Nothing to worry about but cuz you are pregnant, you would be more likely to be having extra kinds of discharge coming out. Just mention it next dr. appt.

I doubt it's sperm. It's not uncommon to have the type of discharge you are describing late in pregnancy. It sounds a bit like you are shedding your mucus plug. Talk to the doctor at your next visit, but keep a vigilant eye for any signs of labor like contractions or water breaking.
Good luck.

Sperm can stay in the vagina for upto 5 days, I'd suggest having a bath to help flush this out, if it continues I'd see a pharmacist or a health care provider who can offer you even better advice than some of these stupid people.
Good Luck with your baby :)

Sperm will stay alive inside the female body for three days...It certainly could take that long to come out.

However, your description doesn't really sound like sperm...I might call the doctor, if I were in your shoes.

Honestly, I'd call up an OBGYN and ask what they think. There are places with free nurse medical reference. You can find them on the web, so you call and they go over your questions and symptoms and tell you what they think. I really wouldnt trust it to be sperm, has it been flowing? Or coming out in gops? Let a doctor know.

If your pregnant and it lasts more than 2 days get it looked at. It could be something with the baby. Odds are it is sperm leaking more slowly than normal. If it starts really bothering you put in liner pad for the day. Hopefully by tommorrow its gone.
