I keep getting a message from a 5 digit number which I do not recognise, so I delete it, but is it costing me money? How can I bar it?

Reply to the next message with the phrase "STOP" or "STOP ALL" Use capital letters and no quotes. That should stop the service. If it doesn't look at http://www.grumbletext.co.uk This is a consumer advice site that may have the details of the people so you can threaten to sue them if they don't stop. Also you can complain to ICTIS or OFCOM. If all fails you can get a new number from your operator.

First of all you could send stop to the number a couple of times.

Or another reason, Is your bluetooth switched on? if it is then is possible you have been bluejacked, that means somebody is using your number to send unsolicited texts which is eating up your credit, if its been done without your knowledge you should be able to claim the money back from ICSTIS. Have you texted a ringtone company or something like that from an ad lately? It sounds like you've accidently subscribed to a premium rate thing. They don't make it too clear that you are subscribing to a service

everytime you recieve a message you are paying for it. it sounds like a premium number so either text them stop or phone up your network providers and ask them to bar it.

Yes, text "STOP" to it.

If it continues, consider taking your 'phone to a shop and buying another SIM card (different 'phone number), shouldn't cost much.
