That depends on what you consider "major". There is only one ball joint per side on the front of this type of a car. Generally speaking if one goes, the other is right with it so if replacing one you should consider replacing the other. These are not very hard to replace, but very time consuming if they still have the factory attachments to the lower control arm. The factory attaches them with three or four big rivots which have to be drilled out. I know this doesn't seem like a lot of work, but believe me it is. I have done this way too many times and always get sore arms from the amount of time spent drilling and air hammering these out. As far as cost of the ball joints themselves, probably around a hundred bucks apiece depending on the quality you want. Definitely should be done as this is a safety concern. As for your other concern if it is just some water droplets falling of the car, I'd say don't worry about it. As long as it is just water. What you can do is remove the rubber drain spout from the evaporator core that is located at the base of the right firewall and either be sure it is clear or clean it out. To do this, remove the blower control module from the top of the HVAC box under the hood. Inspect the core for a bunch of crap that tends to build up on the fins. If it is present, spray with an engine degreaser and spray with water to clean the whole thing out. I am unsure what you have seen here so this is all I can advise at this time. Good luck.
