A single player can not bring the victory alone.......but yes he does paly a major role....i don't know why Muralia could not play the part in final....... Australia was benefited by the pacers mainly and that was i guess the turning point of that match !and those overs reduction etc might have effected it as well .i think it is better to accept that 28th April was Australian's day and luck was with them ...and yes your prayer too ! lol ! But Muralia did play his role for Srilanka through out the torunament and we can not deny that !

I beg to differ with your premise, sir!

Muralitharan played his best and did what was required of him, may be not 100% but the disappointment part is not the same as what Tendulkar did to Indian team's effort. For some reason this great batsman of India could not click and the disastrous result for India we have seen.

Let us see what Tendulkar perform in his Test appearance in Bangladesh being played in this month though this has no comparison to ICC CWC 2007.

Its hard to come to such a conclusion about any player, on their day either of these two could simply blow the game away from other side just like gilchrist did in the finals-who ever imagined that gilchrist who couldnt even find his footwork would fire away the way he did.
Looking back on murali's performances i doubt whether you could take way his seven wicket haul in a sharjah final against india which had them all out for 90 odd runs, so as i said before its all about having your day, cricket as it is can never be certain about what is going to happen .

Au contraire, he did win the world cup in 1996, your premise is completely wrong.

By your logic, Warne is a choker too since he lost the battle to Murali in 1996. Murali and Warne played two finals each, both won one and lost the other.

Wet conditions are difficult for a spinner.to have grip.
Moreover Gilchrist and Hayden were going great guns and already posted about 100 runs when he came on..Still he did not give away too many runs in comparision.
