You are going off the deep end on this one. ALL priests take a vow of celebancy...Straigth or gay. The teachings of the bible, in a few books, say that the ACT is sinful, not being Gay. If a 'Gay' person does not have sex with anyone, do you still classify them as "gay?" does it matter?

Well, first thing is, we were not put on this earth to judge other people. Only God has that right. We are to treat everyone like we want to be treated. If a gay man wants to be a priest than so be it. You have never sinned? The one and only judge will be there at the time of our deaths to determine who comes through the gates and who doesn't. If through the gates is were you want to go then don't judge people on jobs because of their sexual preference. Because he is gay and a priest does not mean he will be hunting young boys. That would be labeling.

I believe that is being a hyprocrite as the bible clearly states that a man should not lie with another man as if he would with a woman!!!
That would be like me preaching to people not to kill, when my husband is lying under the lawn.............
MISSING THE POINT!!!!

But I could look at it another way & say that it would be a blessing as people can still hear the word(even if its misguided) & if the priest is gay he can relate to other gays that happens to be christians. He could also have a gay church(congregation) that he can preach to.
Depending on the situation I dont want to give a clear cut "yes its wrong" or "no its right" because I think it could do some good as well!! as being confusing..........

This is a tricky subject and whilst I don't believe in God I have a lot of respect for people who do. I may be wrong here but I thought priests, regardless of sexuality, are supposed to be celibate? Either way I think they absolutely should be allowed to become priests. The rules of religion have been affected by people and I hope that some day people will realise there is nothing wrong with being homosexual.
I don't think it is natural in the sense that nature tells us to procreate, but it is natural if it is natural to you.
Yay for gay priests!

If you are open with your church and congregation and they are accepting of you, then, yes. Why wouldn't it be?

Oh, you're under the misunderstanding that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong, huh? It doesn't - see the link below.

BTW, you answered your own question. Being homosexual and practicing homosexuality are different. Being a priest and having sex (straight or otherwise) are different, aren't they? Don't monks usually take a vow of silence and celebacy? Whether they are gay or straight, if practicing sexual encounters is wrong, it won't matter what their orientation is, will it?

Again, you appear to have answered your own question.

Since the Roman Catholic church insist that their priests are celibate I would think that there is a higher proportion of gay man in that priesthood than in the general population but who cares what does it matter?

It's not right for anyone to become a priest!
Do you still believe in the Church?
That Drag queen (anything to say about drags, really!) of our Holyness the Pope... he is a plague!
My faith vanished with him...
I just believe in my Lord... not in a corrupted institution like the Church!

If people want to become priests to hide the displeasure of being gay in an open society, then God help the people they try to connive behind as an affront to open religion.
