I have to say moose too...I love moose, they are so goofy looking. They are freaking huge in person! I see allot of road runners here in Austin, and I came upon a huge reddish tarantula taking a stroll through a parking lot. After that I didn't go barefoot for a while. Maybe not unusual, but not too common.

There is really nothing either crazy or unusual about seeing a wild animal in its natural habitat if that's where you are. Seeing a bear walk down a city street would be unusual, but that's because it is NOT it's natural habitat. Seeing a moose in Rocky Mountain National Park is exciting---it's not crazy or unusual. The same goes for most of the other examples given here.

Mine was a mountain lion, sunning itself in the middle of my road. The usual part is we supposedly don't have any here in New Hampshire. I had a baby moose stick it's head in my window and sniff me once and a male moose charge my car during mating season.

Live and not in a Zoo or Zoo-type place? I saw a big heard of Elk in Michigan. BIG animals! Also saw a couple of Gators sunbathing in Florida. Very cool!

An armedillo. They look like a large possum but with a hard shell cover on their back. We saw one when while driving home one night. They're native through out Florida and are nocturnal.

A jackrabbit. The sucker had to have been at least 3 1/2 feet tall, standing on it's hind legs. Scared the heck outta me.

Moose for me too...at my sister's in Wyoming (outside Sheridan). You have to be really careful with moose. If you get between a mother and her calf, you could be dead meat.
