Has anyone takin or know about the birth control shot? If so ,give me ask much info. on it as possible.

I was on it for four years and I would never EVER recommend the shot to anyone.

I've read horror stories and dealt with horrible side affects of the shot.

I personally had weight gain, horrible mood swings, spotting at odd times, and loss of libido.

After five years you need a bone density check because it is HELL on your bone health.

You could still get pregnant on the shot, or right after you get off the shot, OR it could take years to conceive (I know someone who had to go to a fertility specialist).

INFORMATION on the BIRTH CONTROL SHOT
* A contraceptive injection is given at the clinic every 12 weeks
* It is an intramuscular injection of the female hormone progesterone
* It works primarily by keeping the woman's egg from leaving her ovaries (ovulation.) It also causes changes to the cervical mucus and endometrium.
* The shot does not protect you from AIDS and other STD's
* It is called by different names: DMPA, Depo or the “shot”

reasons why you will LIKE the BIRTH CONTROL SHOT

* It works very well to prevent pregnancy
* It lasts for up to 12 weeks at a time
* There are no pills to take every day
* No disruption at time of intercourse; facilitates spontaneity
* May decrease anemia
* May decrease Dysmenorrhea (cramps)
* Breastfeeding moms can use it.

reasons to DISLIKE the BIRTH CONTROL SHOT

* Offers no protection against STI’s/HIV/AIDS
* Must return to the clinic every 12 weeks for re-injection
* Fear of needles may preclude use of this method
* May be confused with lunelle

most are going through a recall,so be very carefull!!

birth control is not a right to sex the whole dang city,just be carefull.

i took it a few years ago and i gain weight and my belly button would hurt alot , but maybe it won't happpen to you.
