Yes.
There has been a long term battle between Apple, and the surviving Beatles.
Only recently did Paul McCartney buy the publishing rights to Beatles songs from Michael Jackson.
Soon, the recordings by The Beatles will be available as downloads, and because of new regulations regarding what is eligible for inclusion in the charts, it's possible that The Beatles could have the top 20 to themselves.
Or, they could release a track to download, and have every consecutive no.1 for months

Because for 1 Michael Jackson owns the rights to a lot, but not all of their songs. And number 2, the surviving members got into a huge fight over the apple logo. I did hear though that in the future Bill Gates is working to put them on itunes, and even use their songs in the commercials. Of course, the article listed was from November, so it may be a while.

Yes, they own Apple Records and made a deal with Apple Computer back in the day that Apple Computer would never get involved in music.
They recently went to court.
But the Beatles don't own to much of their music, it's mostly Oko and Jacko.
I have no clue. I've definitely downloaded a beatles cover song from itunes. But it probably has something to do with the Apple vs. Apple suit.

It probably is because of the lawsuit that was filed against Apple Computer by The Beatles.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Corps_v_Apple_Computer
I would have a feeling there is some animosity there. Also, there are all sorts of agreements that both sides came to during negotiations with these lawsuits. There might be one that prohibits Apple Computer from carrying Beatles songs.

Lawsuits. I think the Beatles are supposed to be coming onto iTunes soon. It was because the Beatles were Apple Corps. and iTunes was Apple and they had the same logo, but Apple Corps. was first...it's really confusing!

Because Micheal Jackson owns the rights to The Beatles songs. This sounds made up, but it is true!
"Jackson bought the publishing rights to 250 of the classic songs almost 16 years ago.
He shocked the music world by outbidding Sir Paul McCartney and paying a reported $47 million for them, reports dotmusic."

According to Ringo Starr, they reached a settlement and he is reportedly waiting for his iPhone. lol
They said in an article that I read that The Beatles music should be on by the end of the summer, if all goes well.
Keep your fingers crossed!
