Its a feeder fish. The temp of the water should NOT get any hotter than 75F and no colder than 65F. I keep mine at room temperature, I dont have a heater for him or anything. I have a small 1 gallon aquaruim with a simple filter and bubbler. Be sure to buy some "Chlorine Remover" for his water. Or, have an empty milk jug handy. Fill it up with tap water, and gently set the cap on top the jug. Leave this sit for at least 24 hours. The chlorine will natrually evaporate. Also if you can buy some "Stress Coat Solution" it helps them retain their natrual fishy oils, and keeps their scales healthy. I clean out his tank about 3 times a year. I feed him "Wardley's Goldfish Flakes". Ive had mine for about 3 years now.

I think those are comet goldfish. They need colder waters, often room temps will create a good water temperature for them. They get really big and gorgeous, so you want to give them a lot of space, and you will have awesome pets who will easily live 20 plus years! Start with at least a 20 that is affordable, but give them at minimum 55 or so, if not a pond when they grow up. Trust me, it is far cooler to have long time fish you get to know, then a bunch of babies that die and just get replaced. They live super long, and are easy to care for given the right conditions. That one would fit under the classification of a "common": http://www.goldfishinfo.com/variet.htm
They will be okay at room temperatures (65-75o although they'd prefer the lower end of the range). The can survive winters outdoors as long as a pond is deep enough, and can withstand temperature up to around 90o (outdoor ponds in summer) for a time if the water is well aerated. They can grow around 18" and if cared for properly, they can live for decades. The oldest recorded was over 40, but 20+ isn't unusual.

It looks like a comet or feeder goldfish to me. They are cold water fish, meaning you do not need to use a heater in the aquarium. Lifespan varies. Sometimes, due to the stress of living in the feeder tanks, they do not live very long.

Hi Erin, no fish let alone Goldfish deserves anything less than a 10 gallon tank with a fitted lid & a filter. Keeping fish in tiny tanks stunts their growth & causes all manner of ailments & stress so they do not live very long. I strongly suggest you return your tank to the store & trade it in for a larger one, you will have no end of problems with any types of fish in such a tiny tank. These 'starter' tanks together with bowls are only sold to make a quick buck by the store & are a death sentence for any fish.

Regular goldfish. The temperature should be about room temperature and dont worry if it gets too cold because fish adjust to the temperature in their enviornment. Just make sure the water isnt like ICE cold or anything. If it is just pour in a hot cup. The healthier you keep them the longer they live. Dont over feed them and give them plenty of little cheap castles to swim in.

These are definitely commons :). You can tell by the nice short tail :)! And kind of stubby body, the comets are the longer body and long fins and by the deep fork in their tail:)! The commons will most likely have a nice short tail with a small fork :)

Looks like the standard goldfish you can get from a carnival! I think room temp is fine for them and no, in my experience, they do not live long.

Those look like Common goldfish (which are commonly sold as ''feeders''.)
