Yes all you have to do is look on a sex offenders list. It will tell you where they live. Dont know where you are but In Illinois you can find a link to it on the State Police website.

This was because of a law passed a few years ago. I believe its called Meagans Law. here is a link to the data base but there are a few things to remember.
Some sex offenders do not register. They are breaking the law but you have to consider that they broke the law to get on the data base in the first place. That means there may be some in the area not listed.
many offenders are listed who committed relatively harmless crimes. For instance an 18 year old who had a relationship with a 17 year old in high school could easily be listed. Some states detail the crimes committed and some do not. Its a useful tool but its not perfect.

The state of Kentucky has a website listing registered sex offenders. It's ran by the state police. Just key in KSPSOR. It stand for Kentucky State Police Sex Offenders Registry.
