It's prohibited in Islam. Because it has many disadvantages. For example, it will weaken your sight and it will effect on your brain (focus, understanding, thinking...). Also, doing it will make exhausted. In brief, it's not healthy to do it because you are going to suffer when you become older. In addition, God created sperms to be in the womb of the woman not to waste it. Plus, the sperm will come out without the spermatazoon(Just the liquid) if you addicted to it.
Teps if you want to prevent doing it:
1- Marry
2- Stop thinking about bad things
3- Remove obscene pictures from your room
.. etc..
and you can stop it by thinking about other ideas

I think its Gods way to see if we can pass the self control test. once hooked its hard to break and leads to dirty thoughts, and then dirty actions, then we get with dirty people and start using drugs, booze, people, reguardless of who gets hurt. If you want a nasty mind do it. If you want think clearly and get ahead of those playing with themselves then dont.
