It's not racist, but it's an outdated term. And it's probably not a good idea to call Asians "Orientals" anymore. It's kind of like how we don't call Native Americans "Indians" anymore.

It's not racist but I think the PC term is Asian since it's referred to as Asia and not the Orient any more.
You're fine.

it is just a word.. it really depends on the intent when you say it.. I know the PC crowd prefers Asian over Oriental, but you know, that Oriental also is used for a style of rugs.. I dont think rugs are racist..
a cracker also comes to mind, its a treat you eat with soup or dip, or it can be a nasty word for white people.. depends on how its used.. words arent racist, people are. its the intent, not the word..

I stay in u . s . a . and that i have not heard every person say that the time period oriental is racist. although, maximum persons say Asian at the same time as pertaining to human beings from China, Japan, and Korea. human beings from Pakistan/Banladesh, etc. are seen center-***. commonly, human beings from India are reported one after the different as Indians.

I'm not sure if "oriental" is considered a racist term, but it's improper to use it to describe people since it's only used to describe products. If you're referring to asian folks, it's better to just call them "asian".
No, "asian" is not a racist/offensive term, it's neutral.

I've heard that it's not a very p.c. word to use (and God knows everything this day in age has to be p.c.). It's a bit outdated and the preferred term is Asian. Oriental is supposed to refer more to a rug than a person.

Oriental simply means "from the East". Of course, people can consider whatever they care to consider. Most people aren't too gall darn schmart.
