ipods are popular because the interface was engineered well. I wouldn't consider ipods to be the best quality mp3 player but the sheer numbers mean that there is more support for them than almost anything else out there.

Like everyone else said no. They are the most popular even though people have more problems with the ipod than anyother mp3 player. Since you're not asking for what mp3 player you should get I won't recommend anything but will advise you not to get an ipod

Well, a lot of people get the ipod because it is popular, easy to use, and since it's popular it's easy to find accessories for it. I don't believe it's the best quality mp3 player--it's probably the best-marketed one though.
I have a Cowon iaudio x5L and I am very happy with it.
