Crayfish are omnivores and aren't that picky about what they eat. If you're looking to catch them in a minnow trap, try a slice of zucchini or chunk of frozen or cooked carrot. Just make sure what you use doesn't fit through the mesh.

The best way to catch them from a shallow stream is just to wade in and turn over some rocks. If you don't want to handle the bigger ones, use a kid's butterfly net (bend the frame so it sits flat on the bottom) just downstream of the rock you're going to lift - if there are any under it, the current will wash them into the net.

Here is a good recipe that also works for carp. take a few cotton balls and rip them apart, until they become a loose jumble. Then take a few slices of bread and do the same thing to it. The cotton ball to bread ratio should be about 1-4. Put it in a bowl. Use USED vegitable oil (that was used for frying meat) or bacon grease and mix it with the cotton balls and mix it all together untill it becomes a big doughy mess that you can form into golf ball sized clumps that dont fall apart.

Tie the clumps to a string or hook and get busy!

Hmm, whats wrong with bacon? I have caught tons of crayfish with bacon.... and I have used that canned biscuit dough, it caught some crayfish but no where near as many as good old bacon.
