This is an equation, not an expression. But anyway, you use the distributive property. You get 3x+x^2+2x. You factor out the x's and get 3+x+2=0. Then you go from there and find x to have the value of -5.

multiply out X(X+2) first.

= X^2 + 2X

so the equation now looks like:

3X + X^2 + 2X =0

collect the X terms (3X and 2X) :

X^2 + 5X = 0

bracket the equation:

(X^2 + 5X) = 0

take X out the bracket:

X ( X + 5) = 0

you can then solve:
X= 0 X= -5

First distribute.
3x + x^2 + 2x = 0
Combine like terms.
x^2 + 5x = 0
Take out x
x(x+5)

x² + 2 x + 3x = 0
x² + 5x = 0
x.(x + 5) = 0
x = 0 , x = - 5

You can immediately see that both terms of the sum can be divided by x, so you can factor it out... Then you just add together what is left...
