Have an aquaintance who is raising 2 grandchildren (from the youngest child). The older children think it is unfair to put such a burden on their parents.

Grandparents are definitely a better option than any state run facility. The children were physically and emotionally abused.

If they think that, then maybe they should help out, because it is...

Whats the option - foster care?
I know it is hard for the grandparents - but the cildren will be better off with them than in Foster Care. The children will be able to keep in touch with their family - I personally think it would be detremental to the children to put them into care.
If the grandparents are too old it is a different matter - have you thought about asking them if they feel like it is a burden?

well really it is a situtation between the youngest child and her parents ( The grandparents ) and the older children should butt out and live their own lives. I am sure the grandparents are old enough to make decisions.

If the parents can't take care of them and the grandparents have the means to, I think yes, it's better than the state doing so.

If the grandparent want to do this and are able, then by all means...if not and the siblings have an issue, then they should jump in there and help or back off.

I don't understand exactly what you are asking - grandparents having guardianship depends on what the circumstances are.

If you are referring to say, Virige Arthur, the answer is NO - she should not have guardianship, custody or anything else to do with Anna's baby and/or inheritance.

Not a good idea. It even affects the children being raised by their grandparents, in the long run, psychologically.

I think it's disgusting. I got pregnant at 17. I moved eight hours from my family, because otehrwise I'd've never been allowed o raise my own kids. Meanwhile, I see so many my own age or older (actually I mean my age at that time; I'm 23 now) who leave their kids for their parents to raise.

My own brother- the night he and his second wife brought their youngest home from the hospital, they dropped her off with my mom. My brother was in a band and wouldn't blow off a gig for his newborn kid, and his wife valued making sure that no one was flirting with him over being with her own baby.

A friend of mine- her kid lives with her mom, and she babysits during the day for her mom to work.

HOWEVER...I wonder how much is the fault of these parents who apparently never taught their kids responsibility, and now they're suffering the consequences?

I don't get it. My kids have NEVER been left with anyone else, except for me to work, and even then, for the shortest amounts of time possible.

Outrageous.
