I'm not trying to diminish the incredible and historic accomplishment of the Warriors or anything, but GSW has owned the Mavericks for the past couple of seasons during the regular season; it's a team they just have matched up very well against. And all the other teams left in the playoffs the Warriors have at best a .500 record against some of them and losing records with the majority of them; Dallas was the only team they had a winning regular season record against. I know they have the best fans in the NBA right now; a 13 year playoff drought will do that to a team, especially one from the Bay Area but it doesn't take much to silence a home crowd and they don't have home court. I support and am happy for the Warriors even though they aren't my favorite team in the NBA; I wish I was back home in the Bay cheering them on. But does anyone think it was just a good match up? Also is it bad that i'm from the Bay Area but the Warriors aren't my favorite NBA team?

Well, that and the fact Nelson knows the team so well.

But mainly because the Warriors, with everyone healthy, and after the trade, are a very good team.

They were beating everyone down the stretch. I saw on tv that they had the toughest schedule in the league over the final 2 weeks or so, and had the best or 2nd best record over that time.

I think that Dallas was the BEST possible first round matchup for the Warriors partly because of the style of play but mostly because Nellie knows how to shut Dirk down. I can't see how Houston would be able to outscore the Warriors if they advance. I believe the Jazz would be a harder match up against the Warriors than either the Mavs or Houston. I have no idea who would win, but I think it would be a long series if it happens.

the warriors had a lot going for them in this series. Davis did much better than exp[ected and with the trades they made they have just a loked out team and j-rich returning to form certainly doesn't hurt either. Also avery pretty much learned how to coach from nelson and nelson pretty much assembled the dallas mavericks for the most part. nelson is one of the better coaches in the league and just outcoached avery. I think avery made a big mistake by resting all his starters against the warriors in the 2nd to last game of the regular season thinking that they would rather play the warriors then the clippers. A lot of poor coaching decisions mixed with dirk never really showing up to play. the playoffs aren't the time for dirk. everyone needs to realize that it's josh howards team. booyah

i totally agree. the mavs are one of the few teams the warriors can match up against favorably. any other team i do not think the warriors would be as succesful. it can be taken into consideration however, that the warriors did finish the season 9 - 1 against good teams while the mavs spent april pretty much beating up on mediocre teams. so i think the fact that the warriors were hot combined with the fact that they have the mavs number enabled them to be victorious.

It simply wasn't a matchup that Dallas was built for.

Don Nelson knew exactly what to do against Dallas, play long ball. Dallas is built to protect the rim, having so many big bodies on the roster. Golden State played fast and furious and buried 3's and buried Dallas along with them.
