My twin girls turn 3 months old in about a week. It is hard to get anything done at home during the evening because they tend to want to be held all the time. I try putting them in bouncer, swing, on their backs and tummys, in their crib to see if they want quiet time, but they only sit somewhere for a couple minutes and then start crying. they aren't able to hold any toys yet.

This is a tough age. I know, I held my newborn daughter all the time, and I really spoiled her. You should start now, getting them used to not being held all the time. You are doing the right thing. They will cry a bit, but just let them cry (for as long as you can take it - 15 minutes or so is ok.) Gradually extend the time they are left on their own (not being held.) It will get easier when they get older and can grasp toys and things.

Put them in a bouncy seat and hang toys over it and bright objects from the ceiling for them to look at. Turn on music.

I know what you mean about it being hard to get anything done, but that's just something you are going to have to deal with. My daughter is 20 months old, and it's still like that. She wants my attention ALL the time, so it's really hard to get anything done. You just have to deal with it the best you can.

Good luck! Enjoy your twins! Just think, in a few months they can play together and keep each other entertained!

Hi it is such a conicidence, i have 3 month old twins also and am going through almost the same thing that you and your wife are. For the last past couple of weeks my twins stopped taking long naps during the day. Now they only go to sleep got maybe 20-30 min and thats it. im going crazy. i just posted a question about this earlier but no one responded, when i saw your question i thought it was wonderful that someone was going through the same thing. Since they are up all day long they want to eat every hour- 2hrs when they usually eat every 3-4hours. this is wearing me out!! i know how your wife feels. i put my son on cereal and it helps a little but my daughter doesnt like cereal and shes starting back having colic. i dont know if its the formula or what. what formula are your twins on?? I thought maybe we could exchange ideas and help each other out. At night they do sleep for 10-11 hours from 7pm -5 or 6 sometimes 7!! thats one thing i cant complain about.

I know that is a really frusterating time with twins. it will get better! I had to sing...literally ALL DAY! Im not joking. It was the only thing that would quiet them. I would sing silly songs..lullabies..I tried not to pick them up all the time because they get so used to it and its really hard holding 2 babies all day. Let them fuss some. i know its impossible to get stuff done.........I still cant take a shower until daddy gets home from work!!! Trust me and SING SING SING! Soon enough they will be interacting with one another and it will get tons easier because they laugh at eachother not just you!

You need help. Is the father available to pitch in? Can you have a friend or family member come by once or twice a week to help entertain the babies or help you get some housework done.
There is no way you can deal with twins by yourself without running yourself ragged.

first of all congratulations on the twins. and what i always found helped was if i put them both in their swings and faced each other. mind you the swings were side swinging so they didnt bump each other. they would giggle at each other in their swings. i never could get much done then anyways because i found the giggling too cute and always watched them.

unbreakable mirrors are a great investment. My babies loved to stare at themselves. You can't hold them all the time or they will expect it now. I would say try buying a couple mirrors or maybe laying them both on their sides where they can look at one another. Babies love action from other babies and I would say especially from their twin sibling.

They will start entertaining themselves if you give them some floor time together. Thats what my wife did with our twins.

you could take turns carrying them in a sling or a mei tai, and let the other one watch whatever you are doing.
my daughter liked watching fish tanks at that age
