As long as the content is less than 700MB. If you are using a DVD movie, like the one you find at your local BlockBuster, the DVD can hold up to 9GB. Single ;ayered DVD can hold up to 4.7GB and dual layered can hold up to 8.5GB. If the content is greater than 700MB, you might end up having to split the content to several pieces and then copy these pieces on to multiple CD blanks. There are a number of different ways to compress files. For example, for data files you can compress them using zip software, like WinZip or WinRAR. For video files, you can compress the files by recoding the original files using DivX or Nero Recode. If you can give some additional information, I can suggest some free software that can do the job.

These days, DVD burners are very inexpensive. At Newegg, a popular online computer technology store, a decent internal DVD drive can cost as little as $35.00 USD.

Ok,

It is possible to transfer data from a DVD to a CD. You will have to use several CD's as they can only hold 700mb of data on them, and a DVD can hold ~4700mb of data.

The problem you will run into is that you cannot copy that DVD to your computer to even start that process because you do not have a DVD drive.

Until you get a DVD drive, you cannot copy files off DVD's.

You can fit the content of a DVD onto a CD. You just have to have the right software to make the conversion/compression and be willing to sacrifice a great deal of the DVD quality. Look for software that will convert from DVD to VCD.
