I don't think all "non-christians", belive that. I don't.
Some people just feel as if they are getting preached to and they take offense, of someone trying to tell them how to run their lives. Even though, thats not the intent. Just be true to yerself, Amy, and keep on keepin on!!

There are many so-called "Christians" on here that write hateful things about other religions or about people that aren't religious. So it's understandable why "non-Christians" would think this. Have you gone through and read some of the questions/answers that are posted throughout the day (I get bored)? It's appalling how many ignorant/hateful things are said. But I've also read "non-Christians" bashing "Christians." So it goes both ways. It's quite unfortunate that some people feel they have to criticize other people because of their beliefs.

I am a Christian, but very (very) often remarks by them make me absolutely cringe. I think the ones that come out preaching and sounding VERY self-righteous and very right-winged just reverberating what they heard from some talking head on TV make a VERY bad name for all Christians.
Those that show the love of Christ by the way they live their lifes and NOT by words (that most self-righteous Christians don't even live by) are a much better witness than those that quoting scripture (that not even Christians all agree on from church to church - ever see a bunch of Christians fighting over the meaning of scripture? They do it right HERE even - another bad example)
Show your a Christian by your actions and your deeds. (as Christ did) Those that JUDGE and condemn are the ones causing this reaction. It's a valid reaction. Totally understandable I'm sorry to say.

Some people who are Christians have not yet been humbled and may come off as better than others. It is those people who tend to be the loudest and get the most attention, therefore, many non-Christians may develop their opinons about Christians based on those types of people.
You are right. Those of us who are truely humbled and committed to being an example of God's love are usually easily overlooked. Don't let other peoples broad opinions get you down. Judge yourself on your actions only. Help fight the stereotype by being the best example of a Christian that you can be.

I don't think it is the Christian like you that they are talking about Amy.
There are several "Christians" out there that do feel like all who aren't Christians are below them. You can read what several of them have said right here on Yahoo Answers. I went to a church not too long ago with a friend, and the preacher actaully said to the congregation that he was 100% sure he was going to heaven, and he was 100% sure half of the people in the room were not. He then proceeded to tell a "joke" to the entire congregation about 7 nuns with shotguns taking out Muslims.
I understand your frustration because so many Christians are wonderful people... it is the handful of "holier than thou" Christians that ruin it for you.

There is just a lot of us that show hate. They talk about all the people and things they "hate" without realizing how strong that word is. They think they are TRUE Christians too, but they have been mislead somewhere along the line, as they are in other religions as well. And remember "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate, and HATE leads to suffering" -900 yr. old prophet Yoda.

Lord knows that we are NOT better than non believers but when you Know, really know, the truth you want others to get the same revelation. It is a place of peace, forgiveness and hope. All the things people are searching for and lack in their lives.
I hate some things but I really try to keep my hate towards evil and the evil one not to lost souls. Feeling sorry for them doesn't make us better than them, just sympathetic.
It is just so awesome when God opens your eyes to the TRUTH!
Thank you Jesus
thanks Amy :)

Every christian I have ever known are cold hearted people. My neighbors for example. The father is a priest? and the mother is an alcoholic that runs around naked, their kids are hellions, paintballing stuff, shooting bbs at neighbors cars. They are just rude. My ex's parents, christian (cold hearted) AT least mormons are nice, even if they are trying to convince you that you are nothing without their religion.
Religion has been commercialized beyond belief. If you are a good person and strive to set good examples you will be fine.

Sweetie don't let it get you down it is simply not worth your time or energy! There are some not so nice peope out there, with a grudge or a chip on their sholder to say the least. But on the other hand there are alot of good ones as well. I think you know who they are, read what they have to say and stop looking at the bad, for they do not matter in the long run!

Because most Christians act like their better than everyone else. And they condemn everyone that doesn't believe the way they do. The ones I've known do anyway, I'd love one of you guys to prove me wrong, but I doubt that will ever happen.
