I have just given my lovely crown-tail betta a burrial at sea. He was only about a year old.

I have a regular betta who is about 3. He's quite smart and one time he was actually floating on his side and I put him on my desk while I worked andwatched him & he'sdoing fine nearly a year later.

Are crown-tails just not as hearty as the regular bettas?

beaats: the plural of betta. a.k.a. Siamese fighting fish.

LOL - I meant bettas - not beaats or whatever I typed.

Thanks. I guess poor little vegas just lost the lottery.

In short, no.

It really depends on where you are getting your bettas. If they are from a reputable breeder, then it will probably live longer because it has been well cared for. If you are getting bettas from the local pet store or Wal-Mart then you are playing the betta lottery! Generally, their coloring and finnage doesn't affect their life span.

Nope.

All Bettas are equally as hardy.

Crowntails are just as hardy as "regular" or veiltailed bettas and can live just as long. I would tend to blame your source of fish personally.

It sounds like a fish to me? What is a bettas? What's that?
