First off I'm a moderate libertarian and this is more of a request for comments then an actual question.

I'm totally confused how people devote total loyalty to self-contradicting parties. Why do it?
It seems that people seek facts to back up their views. Isn't that a bit.... stupid?

The politicians bring up stupid crap they know that everyone will get worked up about and then raise the size of government when everyones backs are turned.

Do you guys think that a main upswing in a 3rd party would help modern politics?

P.S. Ross Perot would have been a disaster.

I'm an econ grad student. The signing of NAFTA was the best thing Clinton did. It created TONS of new jobs that are much higher quality than the ones we lost.

Im not totally cynical I do think that there are some good motivations of people in power they are just secondary to everything else. Politicians are egomaniacs first business men second and our representatives as a distant third.

yes the people need the power back. maybe the Greens and Libertarians and other independants and moderates could join together, become a strong enough force but the system is so much based on money. campaign finance reform hasn't had much effect on anything.
i would guess the majority of voters are generally passive about politics and as long as they are safe and comfortable there is no urgency to go restructuring the system.
i agree with you though, they are all full of crap. i would even suggest they wear their sponsers logo on their suit like nascar drivers. then we could know what to expect.

first of all, international warming is a extensive farce. all people with someone-friendly expertise of paleontology can see that. particular it fairly is significant to shelter the ecosystem however the planet heats and cools in established cycles. additionally I resent being dictated to by a cretin whose 'carbon footprint' is hundreds of circumstances my own puny foot print of 10. Yeah i will make sure how no longer person-friendly the jet placing politicians and clebs try to make a transformation. And 2nd of all to this point as i will tell ALL POLITICIANS think of they are above the regulation and the two events are an entire humorous tale. i might opt to start my own celebration, The celebration of person-friendly undemanding experience.

I think the addition of a third party would be a god send to the Nation. If a strong third party alternative vision was embraced by more people, it would very much throw off the monopoly that the Corporate world has, with both parties, now. However, for this to happen,Election reform must happen first.Big Money still gives us weak minded Corporate hand puppets.

How right you are. These people don't represent us, they do nothing but pad their pockets and make deals that will benefit themselves and their cronies. I was a life-long democrat and changed parties in the middle of the Clinton administration because he signed NAFTA. I thought Clinton was a very good President but that one thing changed my thinking and made me realize profits mean more to them then integrity or the health and wealth of our country and our citizens.

I think our system is screwed...third party or no third party. It's 'everyman for himself' up on the hill and they will say whatever and do whatever to get elected. I like the idea of libertarian party but there is reason they are called "Losertarians".

My advice to anyone is don't put your faith in any of the DC politician because most of them are professional politicians. Their primary concern is taking care of no.1 and getting reelected. Look at what is happening right now they are spending more time campaigning than they are taking care of business.

It's a good point. Socrates or Plato once said that all politicians are corrupt. (a paraphrase) I guess somethings never change!
