My supervisor asked me to belly dance at her Moroccan-themed party. She is a very classy lady and it will be in front of judges and lawyers. She and her husband lived in Morocco for years and I will be very classy with it. No touching or anything very sexy. But I am concerned about the dynamics:

1) She IS my supervisor

2) I've learned so much about professional standards that I am a bit confused

3) Thus far 2 people have not agreed that I should do it

I personally don't have a problem and I could be overreacting...any thoughts?

Thanks

I think belly dancing is fun and entertaining.

What's awkward about it is that many people think that it is proper etiquitte to tip the dancer by putting dollars in her outfit. That, I don't think is necessarily appropriate to a professional setting.

It may help if you ask that when you are announced, the announcer mention no tipping please, just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the dance. That would take out a lot of the confusion that could make people uncomfortable.

I think your supervisor and her hubby may want to tap that ***. You know that crap aint normal to ask an employee, as far as No touching or anything very sexy...why do you have to make sure you preempt us that there will be no touching? How do you belly dance without it being very sexy.
If I saw you belly dancing, I'd have enough masterbation material in my head to last me at least two weeks.

Tell her this: Belly dancing is not even remotely Moroccan! The only place it's ever practiced in Morocco is in tourist shows and seedy nightclubs!
