I understand that your question is relating to the exploitation in third world countries. However it's not just a third world thing if you take a broad view. Why in England do we pay considerably more than our US counterparts for Microsoft products, the PS3 and many other item's. It's because those who control most of the worlds finance are totally greedy. It's been like this since the concept of trade. Sadly the only way to change it is a mass boycott of those products which one could classify as unfair trade. But that would cause hardship for the public who would find themselves with very little they could buy. It's a sad greedy world but it's difficult to see it changing significantly.

It is unfair that we have to pay 'Fair Trade' prices to support economies that have prices that are well below those in the UK.

The same applies to the goods sold in the UK at UK prices when the companies producing those goods take advantage of the low wage/price conditions prevailing in places such as India and China.

In short we are being ripped off.

The question is pretty loaded. Of course I'm against things that are unfair...the question is, WHAT is unfair?

It's better than no trade at all, but not as good as fair trade, which in turn is still no where near as good as free trade.

i would love to buy 'fair trade' products..but its beyond the price of my family budget.

its sad that the third world doesn't get the perks & decent incentives from the rest of the world...but it is only their own greedy fat cat government leaders that can change things...we cant change the wrongs of the world i'm afraid to say!

Those wealthy chickenhawk neo-cons love it-it keeps the multi-national companies happy-which keeps the stock market happy-the only thing they won't out source is American blood-why not get some Indian and Chinese kids to fight and die in Iraq-they would be a lot cheaper ...Duncan Hunter is a repub and he layed it out pretty good last night-we are screwing the American worker.
