Courting is dating with an intent toward marriage.

Dating is a social engagement. Courting is serious dating with the intent of winning the affections of the female for the purpose of marriage.

No difference. Courting was a term used in good old days and was done in style. Dating is more contemporary term and is oh-so-casually done....... So the difference is only in the times/era.... The intent was/is same.......
