Your child may spend the rest of her life being asked how to spell her name. Maybe it would be better as a middle name.

ok, a little over-used, go for it if you like it.

I found this article:

In Search of Nevaeh: A Tale of a Networked Name
Some names slowly rise into popularity, others appear overnight like fashion cloudbursts. One of the biggest cloudbursts of recent years is the girl's name Nevaeh. Unknown as recently as the '90s, Neveah suddenly appeared as the 268th most popular name for American girls in 2001, and has been rising ever since. It's especially popular with African Americans and evangelical Christians, and as a character name in fantasy fiction.

Where did it come from? The simple answer is that Nevaeh is an anagram: Heaven backwards. Consider it kin to the many angelic names of the moment, like Angel, Miracle, and Heaven itself. The anagramming is unusual, but not unprecedented...the 1900s hit Reva was a remix of Vera.

But as always, linguistic origins only tell part of the story. A hit this big and sudden usually has a birthplace in popular culture. The name Camryn appeared in 1997, when Camryn Manheim hit tv on "The Practice." The name Lyric was born via Jada Pinkett Smith, star of the 1994 film Jason's Lyric. A name as unlikely as Nevaeh should be traceable to such a launching pad. Yet the Internet Movie Database lists no people or characters named Nevaeh. No Nevaeh has recorded an album. As for celebrity children, the earliest Nevaeh I've dug up is the daughter of singer Sonny Sandoval of the rock group P.O.D., born in 2000.

It's an unlikely launching pad. Of the thousands of parents choosing the name, how many do you suppose have even heard of Sonny Sandoval? Perhaps just a few...but a well-networked few. As a Christian rock group, P.O.D. taps into a strong, geographically distributed community where news travels fast. On every Christian parenting bulletin board (and there are plenty) , you'll find parents suggesting the name Nevaeh. The rock connection isn't mentioned--it was simply the name's point of entry into a rich social network, and the idea grew virally from there. Nevaeh may be the first baby name phenomenon created by the Internet.

Here is another one:

Is Nevaeh the new 'it' name for baby girls?

For heaven's sake, what's up with the name Nevaeh? It's heaven - spelled backwards. And it's the hot new name for baby girls in the nation - and even more so in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

"The name has exploded in popularity in the last three years; it literally came out of nowhere to be in the top 100 names," says Laura Wattenberg, a name researcher and author of "The Baby Name Wizard" (Broadway). "It's one of the 20 hottest names in terms of its rise for 2005. It's number 70 on the list nationally, and it's No. 55 in Minnesota."

The name may have been born in evangelical Christian circles and then moved mainstream in 2000, when Christian rocker Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D. introduced America to his baby daughter, Nevaeh, during an appearance on the MTV celebrity home show, "MTV Cribs."

The next year, Nevaeh (pronounced nuh-VAY-uh) debuted on the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 baby names of the nation at No. 266. By 2004, it had climbed all the way to No. 104 on the list.

Charlotte and Jeremy Braucks of Sauk Rapids, Minn., watched the MTV episode in which Sandoval explained that his daughter's name was heaven, spelled backward.

"My husband and I looked at each other right away when he said it," Charlotte Braucks said. "It was the only name we agreed on. We thought it was really cool."

Their daughter, Nevaeh, turns 5 in July.

But Wattenberg is not willing to call this a celebrity baby-naming trend; instead, she says, it illustrates parents' preoccupation with coming up with creative names ("Heaven" itself might seem too heavy-handed, she says, which is why you won't find it among the popular baby names).

"Sonny may be the spark for this trend, but you can't call it a celebrity name because he's not well known enough, and even Madonna's children (Rocco and Lourdes) had no effect on baby names," she said. "I think Nevaeh has struck a chord because it's a whole new way to create a name. Across the country, there are probably a thousand expectant parents spelling words backward to try and create the new 'Nevaeh,' but it's harder than it seems."

But Braucks is disappointed that Nevaeh is the new "it" name.

"It's not as unique as it once was," she says. "Now it's going to be trendy. I want her to be the only one."

I think the connotation of turning heaven backwards, would carry bad vibes. I just don't even like the sound of nevaeh. To me, it's a very negative name. Much prefer Heaven, or Glory or Celeste or Starr. Just me maybe, I don't know!

i don't like it. all through school she will have to tell everyone how to pronounce it. maybe pick a new first name and make Heaven the middle name.

Or maybe consider names the mean heaven or heavenly like:
Celeste Celina Sheila Elysia Avari

I honestly really love this name. However, it was my ex-bf brother's bands name. the were like and emo-ish band. went on tour and opened for a few people. Every since then i have seen that name everywhere, so ask yourself this, would you name your kid Tool, Guns and Roses, or Limp Bizkit??? No you wouldnt, maybe Maynard, lol, but not the bands name. hope this helps.

It's up to you what to name your kid, but personally... I'd stay away from it. Nevaeh? Personally, to me it sounds like some sort of cheap car "The all new fully loaded Nevaeh... now just 19,999" But, again, ultimately it's up to you.
