are tattoos on women trashy? Guys? Girl? Please answer!!!?

I want to get an ankle tattoo and a shoulder tattoo. is it trashy/unnattractive? what does it say about me?

Well, here is my opinion: Since tattoos are taboo without a doubt: anyone would agree, those with as well as those without, I would have to say that there is somewhat of a "fringe of society" kind of bent to them. I think they ARE a little "trashy," but whether they are perceived as trashy or elegant all depends on the way you carry your WHOLE SELF!

I have one tattoo. I love art, I love self expression. I have a sister who is a designer: she has 6 tattoos. Looking at her she does NOT look trashy. She looks like a creative artist. I would never get that many, but she carries them well. I love my tattoo (its near my shoulder close to my chest). Conservative people don't normally get tattoos, so to answer your question "what does it say about you," it says you're a creative person, a risk taker, a non conformist, you're self expressive with a little cool rebel on the inside.

Just take a LOT of time and consideration in deciding WHAT YOU GET AND WHERE YOU GET IT, because if NOTHING else, tats are forever.

I say if you like it get it!! And as for everyone that is saying don't get it because you want to get back into modeling don't listen!! I have tattoos and am a model!!! I'm an alternitive model (ex. Suicide Girls) so I say do what you want an what makes you happy there are tons of modeling jobs out there for girls with tattoos!! Edit: LOL yes I have modelled for the Suicide Girls but trust me that was only one out of hundreds of jobs I get!!! I have modelled for skateboard co., snowboard co., clothing lines, and just plain alternitive modeling not everyone wants to look at the same old idea over and over!!! I know I get excited when I see a model in a mag. that has piercings and tattoos!!

An ankle and shoulder tattoo doesnt look trashy. But if its a trashy design or there's so many tattoos in that area then I say thats trashy.

I notice that the answers that say tattoos are not trashy are posted by those that already have them or express the desire/intent of getting one. Isn't that interesting?! As for me, the last thing I would ever do is to mar this wonderful body God gave me. I see tattoos as a 'tool' to gain attention by people that have so low esteem that they feel the need to 'stand out', be different, rebel, all manner of less than bright thinking reasons. Yes, I think tattoos are trashy on men and women. You should think long and hard about this. It is a bigger decision than you probably think it is, especially if you are young.

Tattoos are nice I have 24 of them and I like them. If anybody doesn't like them they have never said. Trashy? They can be. But more women have tattoos than men do now so..... Don't worry about that. One persons trash is anothers prize. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

It is a little trashy. Smooth skin is pretty. When people look at you, they'll be looking at your tattoos and not you. You might see a cute girl or a pretty girl with a few tattoos, but you'll never see a gorgeous stunning girl with tattoos. The gorgeous girls are confident without slapping on a few tatts. The few tattoos I've seen look really cool were big pieces. Small tattoos slapped here and there on your body just look like blemishes. Don't do it.

It's not a bit trashy. I think it shows that the woman is a bit of a rebel and independent. I think tattoos look more feminine if they are small, but that's just my opinion. If you want a giant tattoo covering your entire body, like Enigma, do it.

not trashy...this isn't 1950 for crying out loud. It's a personal expression of art permanently applied to your body. Honestly - why are you concerned about what other people will think? Tattoos are nothing to be embarrassed about & if that's how you feel, please do not get one.

Tattoos are so accepted now- most people who think they are trashy are very close minded! I love tattoos! on men and women- it shows a little rebel, fem and that you like to stand out...i have 5 that can easily be covered if need be some are farley large- i still plan on getting more-just make sure you put thought into what you are going to get- it doesn't wash of ;-)
