5x-2x<-1+7 3x<6 x<6/3 x<2

5x-7<2x-1

first subtract 2x from each side which gives you this: 3x-7<-1

then add 7 to both sides which gives you..3x<6

now divide both sides by 3 which leaves x=2.

3x-7=-1 subtract 2x from both sides
3x=6 add 7 to both sides
