I would say Arachnophobia, The Ring, the Omen, Freddy VS Jason, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Maybe I'm just Jaded, but there are not any good scary movies anymore...
When I was 5, The Day the earth Stood Still scared the BeeJeZZuss out of me...Since then, Elm Street Nightmare Series is decent, and so is Alien.
When I have my kids over, my son and I watch 'em and heckle the films like the Old Mystery Science 3000 Theater...

I saw the original "Exorcist" when I was 16. My mother forbade me to see it, so of course...
I still have nightmares about it 28 years later. I would NOT recommend that you rent that one. I wish I didn't have that crap lodged in my brain.
I really liked "Alien" with Sigourney Weaver.
Just a question. What good could POSSIBLY come out of having them watch the scaries movies ever? Have you thought about what kind of BAD outcomes that could have?
Waking them up with a chain saw after watching "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" IMO is grounds for filing a child abuse charge. I'm glad my kids aren't sleeping over.
Yeah, I'm a kill-joy, I know. Sorry.

I saw the first "Alien" in a packed movie theater when it first came out. I've never heard people scream like that. Still, "The Shining" still gives me shivers even though I've seen it many times.
PS - I would suggest that before the party, each invitee is warned about the movie. There are alot of people who don't particularly want to subject themselves to a horror film (especially soemthing like the texas chainsaw massacre)

Some of the best ones were made during the 70's and 80's. Just get the classic slasher ones that'll make them jump. Don't get the gory ones.

Polterguist. I'm 18 and that movie scares me everytime. Even though it was made in the '80s and has really crapy graphics, it always makes me jump. Especially if I watch it in the dark.
