The Jews Did not kill Jesus. The High Priests and the Sanhedrin put Jesus on trial for violation of the Jewish Laws and got the Romans's to kill Jesus as a Rabble Rouser and a danger to the status quo. Only the Romans's had the death penalty and even the Gospels say that there was a crowd that the Romans's had to disperse on the way to the Crucifixion. In fact Pilate in washing his hands was telling the people that he was unable to judge Jesus and that he was passing it to Rome.

It was Pope Urban II ,I believe, who said that the Jews were responsible for Jesus' death and that they should be punished for it.

Throughout history Muslims have fought Muslims, Christians have fought Christians. Strangely, Jew fighting Jew is rarer.
If those in a position to do so feel there is a reason, often just a selfish reason, to dispose of a threat they will do so.
Jesus was a Jew but the Jewish leaders wanted to get rid of him because he posed a threat to their authority, so they did, even though there were probably a larger amount of Jews who did not want him to die at the time. The Romans did the real dirty work because the Jewish leaders could not put a man to death.

So the answer is - only a few self-interested Jews actually "killed" Jesus, but got the Romans to do the dirty work for them!

The Jews did not kill Jesus directly for they did not have the power to put anyone to death except for stoning and the ius gladii, that is by the sword. Since Christ was convicted of treason the manner of death was crucifixion the Jews could not be held responsible solely for Jesus death for they needed the Romans to convict him of a crime that the Romans could use to put Jesus to death. So Jesus was condemned as both a religious heretic by the Jews which handed him to the Romans and was found guilty by theRomans of a political and religioud crime of treason and being a monotheist in that he denied the existence of the Roman gods and in the One God.

Well they didn't believe Jesus is who he said he was. They believed the Messiah would come in a blaze of Glory; not as a human, definitely not an infant born in a manger.
Therefor, they believed that he was a heretic. Also it was the Romans who killed Him, the Jews just rejected him and basically sentenced Him to death.

The Pharisees, a leading sect of Jewish leaders, got Pilate to execute Jesus. Actually, many people were sentenced to death this way, sort of our modern-day electric chair. Not only was he claiming to be the Messiah, the political leader who would help them overthrow Roman rule, he was leading people away from the synagogues by healing and teaching, thus costing the Jewish leaders money.

They feared a Roman backlash against the Jewish community, and wanted to silence an indivual with a growing following. They took him to Pontius Pilate who had him killed, because Pontius feared a Jewish revolt; which actually happened (10 or 20 years?) later and ended in Masada.

Because he was one of many dangerous heretics, inflaming the passions of an already volatile population. At least, that's how the Roman and Jewish leadership, which were trying desperatly to avoid conflict, viewed it.

There's your secular answer.

Since you do not believe the bible:It tells us the Roman's did, why do you bother asking? Fishing for answers is usually counterproductive.
