Organized religion, in general, is a throw back to tribalism. We organize ourselves into groups (or tribes) based on physical location and belief. Then we are threatened that are near us but not part of the group. It was a necessity for survival 100,000 years ago. I think it's time we let go and pronounce our own morals instead of living by those sent to us by someones imaginary friend.

That is not true, actually. Depends on the figures/information you look at. Apparently, Mao has the highest body count--he is thought to have killed over 12 million people in his regime alone. That's pretty high,a nd he was no Christian! You'd have to include the Nazis as 'Christians' to get those kinds of numbers (the crusades don't even come close, and the muslims gave as good as they got in that one anyway) Some people do include the Nazis here, though their war was not religious, (it was more about race) because they were initially aiming at another race that also integrates religion into its identity (the Jews)

Its more that the people that used christianity to kill, used it to profit in some way. To respond to the previous answer, what about andrew jacksons indian removal act where he states that to build a better christian nation under god, we have to remove these natives from there lands.

you seem to be lumping all of Christianity in with the Catholics. It is the Catholic Church that has been one of the planet's prime agents in authoring human suffering, pain and death, not Christianity at large.

it's also important to know that some of the deaths in the Americas did not come from the conquerors and missionaries but from the diseases that they carried. small pox decimated many tribes in the Americas.

the same reason why Islam will surpass them in the near future... radical religious fanaticism. it's not just Christians. any religion that preaches hatred toward others that does not believe what they believe is dangerous.
