My '03 Explorer is leaking freon in 2 places. So far the compressor is fine but the lines need to be replaced. I have been quoted $1,090.00 for parts and the with labor my total is $1,975.00. I am a little shocked at the cost and I want to make sure I'm not getting hosed (no pun intended).

I called back for further clarification and it does include the compressor being replaced. So all told both of the dual lines and the manifold lines (3 lines total) are being replaced and so is the compressor.

That is way to much without the compressor, read and I will explain.
All Ford compressors will leak and when you say that the compressor is fine just what do you mean. When a system starts to leak the system also loses refrigerant oil which causes the compressor to leak, rattle and get weaker.
The proud Ford has a term for their compressors going bad and it is call "Black Death".
Have a trusted independent a/c repair shop first perform a complete a/c system leak check which will include checking the a/c compressor pumping strength.
Do not cut corners by trying to save some money buying your own parts and the repair shop supplies the labor even though the parts may be warranted from your source for what is known as “Lifetime” this means nothing if your part fails. The repair shop will not redo the complete system free because they did not supply the parts.
Typical jobs of the caliber can range from $750.00 to $2600.00 depending on the vehicle year, make and model but use your common since and never take your vehicle to the dealer because they will in every case always just patch it and you will be back and upset.

That sounds high to me. Considering that the compressor is fine. Normally, just the seals are replaced. With an 03 car, I doubt that the lines need to be replaced. So I would take it to another shop and get an estimate.
Seals are not that hard to replace. I casn't think where the 1100 in parts is coming from if it's just lines.
Second opinion is needed here. good luck

that is extremely too much, you must be looking at the dealership price, you can easily find an outside mechanic to do that for half the price, including replacing you complete a/c system. be warned, unless you have a waranty, the dealership should be the last place you go unless you absolutely have no other options, or no clue what to do. they will charge you outrageous prices, i needed one TTop for my car, so i went to the dealership first, they wanted 800 bucks, so i went 5 miles down the road to a mustang place and got one for 75 bucks. have fun

I think that seems high here in Florida I got a quote to replace the evaporator for 1,500. I always take or call a few places with something like that.

It sounds extreme for me having reported that we are engaged on an off-shore expensive "piece" with countless subject matters. i don't like the sound of all the sealers they're dumping in. What are they for? right here's the position they get you: i hit upon it not undemanding to have self belief that both the water-pump and the timing belt favor replacing. If the water-pump weep hollow isn't leaking coolant you do not pick a water-pump. they're speedy and easy to do later if and at the same time as they're necessary. in case your tale develop into any incorrect way round and the water pump develop into leaking, all the parts are almost all bumped off, bypass ahead and do the timing belt.
