I have suffered from Migraine Headaches since i was about 3 years old. Back then when i threw up or went to sleep they went away. NOW from the age of about 17 they last longer and longer mostly for about 3 days now. [I am 24] I have discovered a Pill called Zomig my Dr prescribed to me at 18 that knocks them out in about 2 hours. [its the best thing in the world] but i am getting them so offten like 2 to 3 times a week and i can't keep taking this pill this often, i don't think it would be good for my liver. Does anyone think birth control pills can cause migraine headaches?

Yes , birth control pills can aggravate migraines . I remember my gynae telling me that one of the contraindication of birth control pills is migraine .
here is something i found useful : http://www.4woman.gov/faq/migraine.htm

"In some women, birth control pills improve migraine. They reduce the number of attacks and attacks may be less severe. But in others, birth control pills cause migraine.

For these women, migraine headaches seem to occur during the last week of the cycle when they take sugar pills, or the pills that don’t have the hormones. The last seven pills in the monthly pack (if included) help remind you to take them daily. But without the hormones, this fall in estrogen may trigger migraine in some women.

Talk with your doctor if you think birth control pills cause your migraines or make them worse. Switching to another pill or dose or taking a type of pill that contains all “active” pills in the monthly pack, instead of skipping a week, may help. Lifestyle changes, such as getting on a regular sleep pattern and eating a healthful diet, can help too"

I don't have any amazing proof saying that birth control causes migraines, the only info. I could find on the web actually said they might help your migranes. From personal experience I can say that I'm fairly certain my migraines have gotten worse since being on birth control. I have had a similar history with them (I used to be able to sleep and get rid of them) and as I got older they've been more severe and lasted longer. It may be the birth control or it may be age. Sorry this isn't a real definitive answer, but it's interesting to know other people have the same migraine issues as me.

The only way to find out is to stop taking the BC pills. Every woman's body make-up is different, in some the migraines are relieved in fact. If you haven't checked out any food allergies, you should do so. Keep a journal of your Migraines & what precipitates them, this will give you a better clue in how to possibly prevent them.

I don't think Birth control pills cause migraines. I used to get bad migraines before I was put on Birth control pills. Now I hardly experience them anymore. When I do, they are mild.

I get cluster migraines. I start to get them by losing vision, my left eye goes blind and the pain is excruciating. I have particular medication to take that knocks me out. I'm generally back on my feet in 6-8 hours, but if I don't take anything I will be screaming for 12 hours. I take Naramig in combination with Codeine Forte. I find that an ice pack will sometimes help, but definitely have to be lying down in a dark room. I'll get a series of these over a period of six weeks, then won't get them for a few months. You should really see your GP about getting some stronger medication, because Tylenol never cuts it with me..

Birth control pills is aggrevating your migraines. I got nasty ones on birth control pills but had to choose either the pill or migraines. I got off the pill to eliminate the migraines. You need to go back to your neurologist and ask him to try some preventative meds on you so you get them less often or almost not at all.

Birth control pills can cause migraines, I had to be taken off a certain kind because they were doing that, but since you have been suffering from these for so long, I doubt it.

Have you ever went to a chiropractor? You might have a pinched nerve or something causing them. I would def. go get x-rayed by a chiropractor.
