Without a doubt the two biggest factors shaping society in the past 25 years have been technology and medical advances.

In the last quarter century more emphasis has been put on pleasure and getting new consumer goods than on progress. The space program is developing at a snail's pace while video games and entertainment things are like rabbits. At the same time, things have been dumbed down so our children don't need to learn as much as before.

Think how much different the world would be today if the US had put as much emphasis on the space program as they did on any of the wars in the past 25 years. Keep in mind that a growing, developing space program would have had a trickle down effect on the rest of the world as well.

I think the biggest thing that has helped shape it is the Internet. I mean, we are able to communicate so much faster, get information, and so many other things thanks to it. We share videos, music, pictures, thoughts, and much more over the Internet. Many a relationship wouldn't exist. Many new words and ideas have come from the use of the Internet. The Internet also has brought the entire world closer together than it's ever been before!

Greed, violence, narcissism, and psychopathy? At least, (to use Ronald Reagan's words), these attributes, if not the wealth, have managed to "trickle down", over the years, eh? :)))
