every magazine and 'how to' website makes creating an overall dress look so easy but when i try to sew the legs together there's always this little tab in the front and back (so i look like i have a tail and man parts). does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

Cut the tab off and just make sure you sew over not just connect over lap and it will fit you better!

Well back in the "70s" we all used to cut the pants to the length we liked for them to be as dresses.. Then go and buy our favorite patterned & color's for material........Then cut the seem out of the inner legging area's of the pant's part....And fill it in with the material, we liked, and put a hem on all of it, the material and the jeans, and some would put like a heart, or some sort of pattern on the chest area, with left over material, to match the material between the legging area's!! And believe it or not, they were the "Cutest" dresses in the "70s"!!! Good Luck!! Its really easy to do!! Have Fun!! Smile!!! OH, P.S. They would put pocket's in the chest area, with the extra material too! Just a "Head's-Up" There!!

You can cut before the legs start then use the remaining fabric to make a ruffle so it's not too short. You could also just put a triangle piece of fabric between the two side to connect them without giving you a puff. just let your imagination go wild with the embellishments when you are done. i made a lot of skirts out of old jeans and they look really cute like they can that way.

You open the seam of the overalls and then you sew the seams to were they look like a dress. You might need to cut it to size too.

if you have lots of jeans that dont fit take strips from them and sew them together to make a skirt. If you have a skirt that doesnt fit you can sew it at the bottom put a strap on it and make it a purse.
