Why would showing ID to vote be such a bad thing, then there would be less accusations of voter fraud...right?

I have to show ID for everything, from buying booze and cigarettes to renting anything (cars, homes, storage, etc, etc.), to entering in certain buildings, to get on a plane, and to enter the country and when asked for it by the authorities. So is it really a big inconvenience to have to show it one more time?

An EXCELLENT and very revealing question. The minorities special interests radicals claim that it places a burden on the poor, blacks, immigrants etc., and disenfranchises them. But when it comes to their social programs and liquor, they have NO problem obtaining some sort of ID. It boils down to the fact that the liberals cannot win any election in this country unless its fixed somehow. This provides a huge loop hole for them in that illegals and other groups who are forbidden to vote by law, can be worked into the system to swing the votes in favor of the liberal Democrats. That type of activity along with criminal activity like locking republican voting place doors with chains the night before the election, and vandalizing vehicles use to transport the disabled and elderly in highly republican voting districts to prevent people from voting makes for a crooked system created soley by the liberal Democrats.

I don't know where these places are that you don't have to show an ID at the polls. I've been voting in elections in the same area since I registered to vote in 1985 and have ALWAYS had to show a picture ID before I'd be given a ballot. Where oh where can someone vote and not prove who they are when the do it?

It is bad for liberals because

1. It completely prevents Democrats from using people to vote when they are not supposed to. This is a big problem in some areas. See WA gov race last time. The first 2 counts showed the R Dino Rossi winning. All of a sudden some votes were found

2. It is fair.

One of the greatest things about America is the secret ballot. If there is any way to connect a voter to their vote, that's opening the door for much unethical behavior. Since the problem was isolated with counting votes, the simpliest solution would be to improve the method of counting.

Yes when you would have to provide proof that it was you and only you that was voting on your ticket than voter fraud would be impossible for the most part. I hear you on this I would be totally for it... I even mentioned it to the district supervisor in the november elections when I barely had to say anything to the checkin lady and I was handed my ballot. I found it horrible, anyone that could get their hand on that list could have walked in and voted using my name.

It makes perfect sense to show ID to vote. It makes better sense to use voting machines that are accurate and can't be tampered with. Its 2007 for crying out loud.

It wouldn't be except for those who WANT vote fraud. Thet use the excuse that it is discriminatory, but that is absurd. Please note which party supports & which party opposes voter ID when you enter the voting booth.
