Hmmm. I might have one that very few people give notice to, unfortunately.

Nikola Tesla.

This man literally created the modern world in regards to electric. The credit belongs to him, not Edison; for frankly it was Edison that stole it due to his own greed and ego.

This is the man who discovered AC electrical currents, he was bound and determined that this electrical source be free for all mankind as the source was from the ground, not in a machine and therefore inexhaustible supply.

This man was brilliant and more influential than many people give him credit for. He was truly a man before his time. He assisted Westinghouse stay in business and in a great humanitarian cause; tore up his contract which if he kept would have made him the worlds' first billionaire, in fact estimates say--several HUNDREDS of billions of dollars--all for keeping electricity financially attainable for us--little knowing that it would be used for profit later...

All of his paperwork and scientific manuals are in the hands of the Defense Department to this day; though his death was in 1943--it is classified as 'top secret' and you can not get it via the Freedom of Information Act...I tried.

But...there you go.

FDR because he was in the limelight from 1915-1945 . He led us through the Great Depression with his works programs and his fireside chats, and brought us gradually to the Second World War with calm and decisive leadership as if he was the soldier of freedom . I think it was quite ironic that he died during the war that he led us from the start as the hero he was . His 3+ terms will never be equaled because of the Constitutional amendment which came after his death.
