They obviously played in a weak conference, which is how they got 67 wins.
Dirk Nowitzki was underserving of MVP consideration, as he must have padded his stats against weaker teams.
And the Mavs were just too slow to keep up with those west coast teams!
It was all proven in this series!

This is using the same logic of all Ohio State Buckeye haters after the BCS game! How does it feel?

All your comments here are true! But why was there such a "Buckeyes Suck" and "Big 10 was overrated" comments when it happened to them?

This is about the dumbest logic ever. Dallas playing in a weaker conference? Then let us take a look at the east versus west idea. How many teams do you think from the east had a winning record against the western conference? A grand total of three; Detroit, Cleveland and Miami. No division in the east even came close to having a combined winning record against the west. The west record against the east was 257 - 193. Dallas only had three losses to eastern teams. So the idea of a weaker conference being the reason they were considered to be so good really just doesn't hold any water. Maybe they were considered to be good just because they were beating the teams put in front of them. They were good all year however they did struggle with Golden State all year if that was because of their overall team speed or whatever it was Golden State just owned them. During the season Dirk did play like an MVP but in the post season he didn't show up. So I feel you should learn to seperate the post season from the regular season. Dallas wasn't overrated all year they were beating everybody in front of them and Dirk did play extremely well.

As for the weaker conference theory. That is just a dumb idea. The Western Conference was clearly dominant.

First off, the West Conference is better than the East. Second, they had the hardest division with the Spurs and the Rockets with New Orleans coming up as a playoff team. Get your facts right before you say something dumb like that.

To answer your question, The Mavs didn't have 2 things that could of beaten the Warriors. One, Avery Johnson sat his starting lineup against the Warriors so they could rest them. That helped the Warriors make it into to the playoffs and the players lost the intensity that is needed in the playoffs. That game that the Mavs took off cost them the series

The second is that Don Nelson doesn't use a center position when he makes is lineups. He plays a "organized chaotic" basketball where they can shoot the three pointer whenever they want. He makes teams play to their game, not their own. The centers on the other teams can not keep up with the run and gun Warriors. Don Nelson had the right team to do it with because the Mavs couldn't keep up. The Mavs also gave up with 11 min left in the 4th quarter.

Mavs were the best of the regular season.
But the proof in the puddin' comes in the playoffs.

Give credit to the Warriors. They are a much better team than they were even a month ago. Healed from injuries, good acquisitions - and let's remember who their coach is - Don Nelson.
Who just so happened to be the Mavs coach 2 years ago - giving Avery Johnson the opportunity to take over.
If anyone knows the Mavs weakness' - Nelson does.

Mostly it proves that the Warriors know how to beat the Mavs. Total Mavs losses this season (inlcuding playoffs) 19
Total Mavs losses to GS this season (including playoffs) 7

Over a third of all the Mavs losses this year were to the Warriors. GS owned the Mavs with a total 7-2 record against them this year.

They also own 2-1 wining record against both Houston and Utah so the run may continue.

This just give addage to the fact that the playoffs is a different season. Not to mention the warriors owned the mavs during the regular season. nelly did a good job, not only did he show the 'lil dictator - johnson, who the real coach is, he also showed the cry baby - cuban, he screwed up when he forced nelly to retire (no love lost there).

The mavs were not overrated, they deserved the NBA spotlight they got, heck they were the winningest team during the regular season. THEY JUST COULDN'T FINISH.

67 wins insn't overrated....they WERE the best team in the regular season. A weak conference? Are you out of your freakin' mind? East (by far) is the weaker conference. During the regular season Dirk WAS the MVP. So.....you are pretty much wrong on all accounts...nice try though..

It just proves that they can't win against small ball. They couldn;t win against Phoenix and Golden State during the regular season as well.

People shouldn't be surprised if the "best" teams don't make it to the ncaa championship game. That's the difference with the college game, you can get lucky because you only need one game to advance. But I don't think Ohio State got completely lucky. Oden and Conley definitely were major factors. But the gators just had way too much talent. We're talking three lottery picks there!

No they weren't overrated, they made it to the finals last year too. It is more like the Warriors were underrated after they made the trade with the Pacers, they needed time to learn to play with the new guys and then they have some injuries for a while, so it is the Warriors being underrated instead.

NO!!! They are and still the best team. You cant go to the next level if your franchise player isn't performing above and beyond his regular season totals. He should even accept MVP if given to him!!!!!
