Meaning learning and memorizing all the grammar rules, etc. I want to become an English teacher (middle school - high) and I wanted to know if it was difficult to get your degree. At first I wanted to teach history, but I changed my mind. Thanks!

Its not that hard to become an English Teacher. But it takes time to be really a good teacher of any subjects or disciplines.

Have strong determination, what you want to be then only pursue your career.

It's not hard; you just need the schooling (at least 4 years of college; anymore and you just get higher pay) and the teaching certification. What's hard is trying to get a job. English and history teachers are quite plentiful and hang on to their jobs until retirement, generally. Math and science teachers are more in demand because less people go those fields to teach. But if you try you can do it.

Hi,
Teaching English is not only a matter of mastering its rules or communicating fluently. It is both an art and a science.Science can be learnt and studied but art is somehow part of one's personality. And that's what makes the difference between a devoted teacher and just a teacher for we teach what we are consciously or not.Getting a degree in teaching methodology is not difficult at all .Good luck.

Other than your degree undergrad, and a masters, and then test and exams and certifications no. However it is was easy everybody would be doing it. It takes heart like any profession, and passion to do it. My best friend is a teacher and it's a process. Good Luck! Oh yeah it depends on the state.

I don't think so.. all it takes is patience.. and may be a solid knowledge of vocabluary use & grammar rules.

& remember.. Degrees don't make good teachers.. The degree makes u a teacher, but the practice makes you a good one.

Good luck.

I am a student of English Philology and I can tell u that becoming a teacher is not in my preferences but it`s very easy more easy than u can imagine. don`t worry about grammar rules or definitions, that`s not how u learn, practice is everything.

no more than being any other kind of teacher. specializing in one subject might even be easier than teaching several, like if you taught elementary school or special education.

it isnt harder but you have more work to do than any other kind of teacher...all those essays to grade...and you get paid the same as a P.E. teacher!
