The Medical Examiner is the one that performs the autopsy.
The Coroner takes the results from the autopsy and determines the cause of death.

Forensic Pathologists
They are medical doctors.
In some states a coroner does not have to be a medical examiner, they are just the people who are on the front lines. A community may never know who is actually doing the autopsies, because the pathologists are not the elected coroner. But the coroner must sign off on the death certificate.

Medical Examiners, Coroners, Morticians, or Forensic Pathologists...

The difference depends on where you live, as different states and counties have their own regulations.

Odd little tidbit, most counties that elect a sheriff and a coroner, the only person who has power over the sheriff, as in termination rights, is usually the coroner. :)
