see,the admission to U is only in July & I`ve gone to an interview today & I got a job but unfortunately, i don`t have a car, so therefore need to depend on my father to transport me here & there. When I accept the job already, he said he can`t because the place`s just too far away.

This always happens. I got a job, the time`s not right & my dad can`t bring me there.. so , I`ve stayed at home for God knows how long..from December to now & I`m getting sick of it. All my friend has a job except for me...

Am I a failure for not having a job????

for your info, there`s no train/lrt/monorail/tube..i don`t own a bike & if i do bike there, i think my legs would fall off..even using a car`s quite far already & most of my friend don`t drive.

Do you think I don`t check the nearest place if there`s any work?

I`m 19 & University`s coming up in 2 more months.

And I`m not making excuses! Who doesn`t want to work????

ok, so there`s bus...but frankly, i never use a bus before..it`s true..not having a car is not a freakin excuse, it`s a FACT!

well, that place surely`s far than 1 km..believe me...

AND I`M NOT MAKING EXCUSES! GOSH!! If I really don`t want to work, why would i post here & make excuses after excuses? I would just sit back & relax. Am I relaxing ??? Noooo...I really want this job BADLY but transportation is the problem. Who doesn`t want to work hard & see the money coming in? I DO!

That`s why I feel bad cos not having a job! I did my interview at 2 places & it`s always transportation problems. You think I don`t try? You think I don`t reason with my parents ?

I`m willing to go there as early as 8 am if the job STARTS at 9:30 am BUT my dad said he can`t bring me..what am i supposed to do?

Find another way to work. Or find something closer until you can get things together.

You are not a failure for not having a job, but yes, you are a failure for making up excuses to why you can't have one.
From what I see, you are old enough to make your own decisions in life when it comes to deciding what's best for you. To use the excuse of not having a car as an excuse for not getting a job is pretty lame. I have friends who walk on foot for at least 1 km to get to where they work. And really, have you ever heard of public transport? If the bus doesnt come anywhere near your place, find means of getting to the nearest pickup point.
Working is a symbol of independence. If you need your dad to send you everyday in order to make it convenient for you, then that beats the whole point of working in the first place.

Can't you work somewhere within walking distance or driving distance until you have enough to put a downpayment on a car?

You are not a failure unless you think those are your only options for getting to a job interview. All your friends have cars but they won't help? There is no public transportation? You don't own a bicycle?

Don't give up, good luck.

Your on the right track no matter what you do don't give up.Try the city bus route, maybe there is a person who lives by you who can ride with or check and see if there's a car pool. The main thing is once your money starts coming in you can get a bucket(a cheap car) and move on from there. The important thing is that you stay focused don't get mad, some things just take time. You are not failing, life is just hard for us sometimes and when were put to the test it's up to us to prevail no matter who or what stands in our way. GOOD LUCK BUDDY.You can do it.

NO, technically you were hired, too bad the transportation is a problem. Is there any public transport? Next time figure out the times your dad is available to drive you, and the distance he will go and apply for jobs that can fit his schedule.

It's not your dad's fault so lets see who else can we blame? How about a bike? Walking? The Bus? A friend? Get there the first day, see if anyone lives close to you and offer gas money for a ride? OK my head hurts from thinking!

Since it is isn't clear how old you are it's impossible to know. Have you ever heard of public transportation? If you're not a high school kid then you need to start to take more responsibility for figuring this out yourself and drop the victim attitude.

You are not a failure if you don't have a job, especially since you don't have a car however there is some form of public transportation in most cities..
