Why is it people can't use their freedom of speech. You can't say anything these days without fear of being fired from work or being bullied by a group of people who don't agree with you.

If people want to be racist and show their ignorance let them. These are the same people who wouldn't dare say offensive things in public, unless supported by a large crowd of other morons. They hide behind their computer because they know they are idiots.

Don Imus got fired, why? Because he is too dumb to think before he speaks? So he loses his job for an opinion, what a joke. Just because he was a moron for 5 seconds he loses his job.

I think Answers is a joke. Can't even say someone could catch an STD (can't name specific one's) without screeners jumping on your case. Two of the STDs I mentioned were okay, but God forbid I mention the big "A" word and it's a crime. What a joke! The guy I made the remark to was a pig who was asking how to tricking women into sleeping with him. They sure weren't q

The PTB at Yahoo! Answers CLEARLY have agendas, as well.

It is human nature, unfortunately, to abuse positions of power.

Honesty and clear communication have taken a backseat to placating the masses with "politically correct" speech and behavior.

Pathetic.

There are many reasons why we in america have to be so politically correct. 1 reason is first off freedom of speech works both ways you have the right to say what you want but also people who don't agree with you have that same right and in Don Imus's case he didn't have enough people in his corner so yes he lost his job and to me rightfully so Ignorance should have no play on public radio that goes for rap music too.

the second reason is People are very sensitive about certain things like racisim I mean you have to understand that. lets say your mother just died and then some goes and spits on her grave and calls her a whore. Are you just going to blow that off and say "ahh that guys got his right to his opinion of my mother."? I would hope not. Basically it has to do with respect .

You can't go around disrespecting people and then think that nobody's going to say anything or try to silence you. But I do see what you are saying yes some people take censorship and being politically correct way to far.

To end, Why we have to be so politically correct is because everybody wants and deserves respect. and once you surround yourself with people that respect you and you respect them and you understand eachother then and only then will yo be able to say anything without having to worry about somebody getting angry because automatcally those people will understand the contents of what you said because they understand and respect you as a person.

You should never say anything rude about a person. Their wouldn't be people that complain about it if it never happened but it does. Don Imus should of gotten fired what he said was horrible to those young girls. I don't think it would of went the same way if it was a black guy saying it to white girls but that's another story. I think you need to open your mind up a little bit and chill out. You should have anything racist or ignorant things to say anyway. And if you don't like this site don't come on it.

This forum, in many ways, is a mirror of our times. Such is the atmosphere we live in, we have all become hypersensitive and self important.

I started to ask myself your question when the phrase"politically correct" came into daily usage. Not being too bright, I ignore it, and say what I believe to be true, and if it offends the extreme liberal left, too ******* bad..
