Maybe there is a college near by that you can get a degree for that kind of thing. You should look into it and see if there is, if its a career you would like to pursue. Schooling is always beneficial in getting to know contacts and to your foot in the door somewhere.

At 19, you need to be either in school or working somehow in the industry. But honestly, school is the best place for you to hone your talents as a writer especially. Look into film school, where you will have the opportunity as a student to write, film, direct, act, and use the equipment of the school itself. Prepare a reel of your work, make a website. There are scholarships out there for you, as well as loans you can take out. Nobody is going to back a 19 year old with dreams; you will need to do something on your own to make those dreams happen. It's not an easy business.

Start local. There are plenty of avenues to explore where you will gain practice and exposure. Most communites have local dance companies that do productions for charity events, holidays, promotions, etc. They don't pay much, but you'll learn and hopefully get noticed by a talent scout. They constantly attend those kinds of functions to find new stars. You may also try local high schools, colleges, or churches. Their drama departments are always looking for talented adults who are willing to act for little or no pay. Again, this gives you exposure. That's what you need most right now. Good luck.

Take care,

Most of us went to school to study theatre, there are lots of good programs where you will get a chance to act, direct, or write. You should try those places, people who email you from an anonymous site like this one may be creepy and scary, be careful! Hugs, PT

If you are a screen writer, all I can say is that send producers a letter about your movie, then if they reply wanting the screenwrite, send them the freaking screenwrite, or better yet...make an appointment and bring the screenwrite with you. Not all of it, but maybe a couple scenes.

We can't give you money and we are not play producers. You are baking up the wrong tree here. You need to get involved in community theater (free), and move on from there to possibly having them stage one of your plays. But don't hold your breath. It's a tight market and one fraught with disappointment.

If you live in a mid-large sized city, there should be community and professional theatres in the city. Contact them, perhaps you can be a volunteer or intern.

I am sorry hon. Don't worry your time will come if you really want it and take the time to get into the business. It is scary though.
